Barry Nelson Presents
to Professionals Barry A. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson, P.A. presented estate planning and special needs topics at the 43rd Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning in Orlando, Florida held January 12-16, 2009. The Heckerling conference is the largest gathering of estate planning professionals in the nation offering an opportunity to exchange ideas and to network with their peers. Mr. Nelson presented "Asset Protection for Estate Planners - What Me Worry? What Have You Done to Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones?" which instructed attendees that estate planning techniques and asset protection planning sometimes contradict each other and how to plan accordingly. Mr. Nelson collaborated with Sebastian V. Grassi, Jr. and Andrew H. Hook in the presentation entitled "Meet the Joneses - A Potpourri of Estate Planning Issues for A Special Needs Family." Mr. Nelson and Mr. Grassi are the fathers of special needs children. They provided realistic, personal and practical information in the form of a case study which explored the issues that a family faces when preparing an estate plan for a special needs child. Barry A. Nelson is a Florida Bar Board Certified Attorney in the areas of Taxation and Wills, Trusts and Estates. He is a managing partner of Nelson & Nelson, P.A. located in North Miami Beach, Florida.
